i suppose it's the same answer as why my housemates don't smell like their private parts since they daily clean themselves down there.

Mackerull, that is pretty much the answer our mom would expect from any of us. Unfortunately, the fishiness does linger on our breath, and Kizmet is particularly fond of grooming Mom's face, which deposits the residue there. We kitties are just too smart to allow ourselves to absorb anything our humans might find offensive.
