Fireworks are illegal here in Massachusetts, but that hasn't stopped anyone from shooting them off. It's worse this year because the entire state cancelled Fourth of July celebrations. I'm sure the fireworks will be worse this weekend. Find a good hidey hole.
We won't be seeing or hearing any fireworks here, because celebrations for Canada Day (today) have been cancelled. We agree, they just scare woofies. As for us, Sasha is deaf (mom bean thinks) and Saku could care less.

The fourth of July is a difficult holiday for a lot of people and pets. Those fireworks make dogs crazy (and some people and kitties too)! I hope that you find a way to enjoy the holiday as much as you can despite all of the difficulties surrounding it.
Bleubeard and Squiggles agree with you about the dogs barking all hours of the day and night. It's hard to be a tabbie over the 4th of July. And from June 24 to July 6 here. Stay safe, stay inside, snuggle with FSG, and remember this too shall pass!

We are across the street from a lake and many humans get in it and make noise and at night we hear the boomers going off. Humans are nuts!

I hate fireworks too! They are illegal in my state, but people go to the next state over and stock up. I also hate that we don't get mail on the 4th either. Maybe FSG can make you some red, white and blue fish :) XO

Without air-conditioning, this heat is NASTY, and the windows are all open, so the boom boom boom keeps one up...and the stoopey neighbors are lighting 'em off right over our house! Cranky, cranky, cranky around here too! But...God Bless America, still the greatest country EVER!

You kids! Hilarious! We've had stoopy fireworks going off forever, since people went mental when the usual venues were cancelled. Every single time it sets off the d*gs next door! Our mom's concerned with our ongoing drought and the real possibility of fire. That would p*ss her off even more than the bark bark bark bark bark.
I think we should get presents for Fourth of July. I mean, why not? Right? :) And we are totally with you about fireworks. It has started in the neighborhood already....sigh.

Yes, those boomers are booming here too, and likely across the street on Saturday. Just what we need after *she* comes home from work after 10 pm, all tired and cranky from working with her little old peeps...who are crazy pants and more so with a full moon...sheesh, dementia is a curse, and not only that, the pandemic has made them more so cause they cannot have visitors.
So thanks for the giggles,and we hope your boomers won't be TOO boomery...ours will, cause the ones they shoot off in front of our house is done professionally...for the company those peeps work for. They just happen to have a huge field. UGH. (But other than the boomers they are wonderful peeps, and we are glad they live there...)

Our Chris actually likes watching fireworks. I feel bad because we moved from where he could see them good.
We live in the suburbs and far from any fireworks but sometimes some citizens fire their own and we can hear them. This time around we don't know if there will be any fireworks at all. Enjoy your 4th, hope it does not suck.

While i may love the freedom for which it stands, the holiday itself is spoiled by those who think they know what they are doing with fireworks, but they don't. Pets and people with PTSD or anxiety issues can have a terrible time of it, and that makes me very sad for them.
It sounds like you all are very concerned about the banks being closed. Now that they're back open, did you rush right out to get some cash? I hope the fireworks stop in your area soon!
I suppose what I better say is: Happy 1 - 3 and 5 - 31 July! Thankfully we dont celebrate anything here, bar my birthday which, Mrs H advises me, is every day as I am so lucky!

I don't like fireworks either. My human says fireworks are illegal in South Australia unless you have a license. You can't possess them, or set them off. That is GOOD! One of the reasons is that animals get frightened. We hope you didn't get too scared. Too much freedom to do things is not always good when what you do hurts other people and animals.
