We are looking for a statue of St. Francis for our garden, so he can look over Paddy O'Malley.

When the girlies were little there was a blessing of the animals at their school around Oct.4. We couldn't take Ink for the blessing because he hated to ride in the car and it would be too far for him. The Young One took a stuffed black beanie baby to be blessed in place of Ink. Pax et Bonum

What wonderful gifts you received. I swear that painting looks JUST LIKE Tuna, Mack, and Dai$y. I couldn't believe it when I first looked. It's fabulous, but so is that incredibly unique and different book you received. The entire world loves you dear tabbies and so apparently, does St. Francis. I know he is very special to FSG, so I'm thrilled you tabbies also chose to celebrate his day, too.

Great post. St. Francis is my favorite Saint. Sammy thanks you for the shout out. I wish my church still did The Blessing of the Animals. XO

Pawsome story kitties! We didn't know anything about St. Francis. And mom bean, even though her first name is Frances didn't either. Seriously!

Love that story - he was one of my mom's fav saints! The photo at the end is lovely!

He was very special. There's a story that he was tending his beloved rose bushes (that are still at the monestary to this day) and one of the brothers asked him what he would do if he found out Jesus was coming back in 10 minutes. He said, "I would finish tending my roses." That's a man who knows he is doing what he has been called to do.

Thank you for the lovely post about him!

Great story. I have a st. Francis photo frame that holds one of my favorite photos of the late great mr. Max.

Wonderful post honoring St Francis. Love the story with the fish. And the image of him with kitties is so cute :-)

Anyone who likes animals even a little - never mind loves them - honours St Francis, a good man if ever there was one. I like the picture of him with the cats. I can see why it is prominently displayed on the desk.

St. Francis most certainly was an amazing man, and worthy of his sainthood. We love Mister Leo's story with the fish!

YES! Well, sort of. The HUMAN has been to the St. Francis Fountain! It is a real SF institution! It had some real struggles this summer during the shutdown but it seems to be doing okay now with outdoor seating. It is only just now (today!) that the city is starting to allow limited capacity indoor dining, and a lot of restaurants didn't make it :-( On the plus side, SF's virus control has been super good so the stringent measures were at least effective. Still, we've had 101 deaths, but in a city of almost 900K that is a very low rate. Of course, it so sad for families of those who did die.

We are big fans of St. Francis!
And we love Mr. Leo's story.

Have a wonderful October...

I love this post. Sounds like St. Francis was the first to implement 'catch and release' fishing.
