Our mom bean didn't know all that stuff about St. Francis, and we didn't either. He sounds like a pawsome dude! Have a great day efurrybody.

Oh, we forgot about this day being the Day of Blessing.
That means that our Angel Groucho was born on a great day(Oct2)...And our unfurbro, too, though he isn't called Francis, MOL!

He was a good fella and his love and care is appreciated so much.

What a loving tribute to St. Francis. I knew about San Francisco, and have been around your blog long enough to know about this day, too. How sweet of your pawsome pal Gleek to send the amazing medallion.

I'm sure St. Francis would be horrified by the state of our environment. How our leaders can ignore science is beyond me. Even Bleubeard and Squiggles want to help. Sound the alarm on the environment, because we are all going to need it soon. The entire earth is heating up and burning. Bring on the scientists to save our world and our climate, and have St. Francis bless them all.

Oh my goodness you Kit Kats and the FSG have prepared a most beautiful tribute to St. Francis. BTW you all introduced me to St. Francis and I am very thankful. Our best to all creatures 2 and 4 legged Great and Small

St. Francis was a great man, and the Franciscan Order of monks was founded by him too. He loved animals, and he loved mankind. A very cool dude!

St. Francis is a wonderful hero to have, what a lovely post. We clicked the link to the rescue, btw, and it look amazing.

If you are going to be a saint, I think the best gig is to be the saint of all the animals. Your Grandpa's statue seems to be holding up quite well in your garden.

Very cool things indeed. Francis is our Dad's baptismal name and that totally makes sense to us.

Excellent post. That butterfly is beautiful! Our Church is having the Blessing on Friday but it's kind of far for us to go (Raz is a PTU pooper) so we're going to a closer Church on Sunday. Mom says it's important to be blessed no matter what day it is.

We love your Saint Frances statue. We have Saint Anthony in our garden. It helps the flowers grow.

We have that very same St. Francis statue in our yard. Unfortunately it got attacked by some nefarious night creature and poor St Frank got broked in half. But! Daddy fixed him and now he's back protecting God's creatures like us.

When the girlies were in grade school (parochial), they had a blessing of the animals ceremony on St. Francis' Feast Day 10/06. We didn't bring Ink because he hated being in the carrier and riding in the car. The school was 20 or so min. from the house. The Young One brought a black Beanie Baby to represent Ink. Since we live in a farming area, people brought goats, sheep, chickens, as well as the usual cats and dogs. In a couple of months, I'm going back to Ender's Island for a workshop to letter The Prayer of St. Francis.Just like on your medallion. My friend, Darrell, had converted to Catholicism, and St. Francis' prayer/hymn was his favorite.

I meant Black Cat Beanie Baby! 😊

Sure one dude we don't mind hanging about. Most other humans we'll run from, but all he did and helped out with, we'll watch the statue from afar haha great post indeed.

Great post for St. Francis! I used to bring my cats to get blessed, but as I got more cats, I felt bad only getting some blessed and not all. XO

I did not know that about San Francisco. Getting a St. Francis statue for the garden is on my to do list. Every garden needs one.
Loved the post.

I really like that statue. St Francis is very important to all the animals of the earth.

We have a St. Francis medallion and a handmade tile with him on it. Well, our mom does. We know he watches over us.

We sure like his butterfly and hope it doesn't leave this earth forever.

We are St. Francis fans too. He loved the animals.

St. Francis is our hero, too! We have a statue like that at PAWS. :)

You have invoked the blessings of Saint Francis for our benefit in the past, guys, and we thank you. He is surely watching out for our pets, and all animals. He has an uphill fight, certainly, but I've no doubt that he will win it.

Wonderful tribute for St Francis. I enjoyed reading about those St Francis stuff. It's really cool San Francisco was named after him! The medallion is a very nice gift for FSG :-)
Have a wonderful day! xo

Pawsome info on St. Francis! The Female Human has taken some of us to the blessing of the animals (there are some of us who do not apurreciate a ride in the noisy metal machine.) The Female Human said she wants fo find a statue for our front garden like you have but the one with St. Francis holding a bowl that she can put seed in for the squirrels and birdies. We can look but we're never allowed to touch.

I've always thought your St. Francis statue you have in your yard is lovely. Thank you for checking in on us. Purrs & hugs to you, Mackerull, Tuna, and Daisy!

Most of this was new to me! However, my brother is a pastor and when he was in rural Nebraska, they had a [virtual] blessing of the farm animals. Can you only imagine if they'd all come to church for that? A zoo!

Sandra Cox said...

I'm sure your St. Francis has even more special meaning for you since he has been in the family for awhile. I bet he's soaked up all kinds of love and positive energy.

St. Francis is a great example to all of us of how to be.

Disney Land opened in the 1950's, i'm not certain of the date. Walt Disney World, in Florida, didn't open until 1971, and Epcot in '81. So you are right about something from Disney being open a lot sooner than what i noted for the Florida part of it.

Thank you for such a wonderful, informative post about St. Francis. Sorry we were late to read it, but dad, well, has no excuse. Mom's been to San Francisco and loved it but dad's never been and wants to go some day.
