My house wasn't in the path of totality so it was fun seeing your pics. We didn't get our lazy butts out in time to get the special glasses (we were 90%) so I watched the event on television.
It was a rockin' good time, wasn't it?!?
We were in the path of the totality, but I was visiting my dad at the time, so we watched live news coverage. It would have been amazing to see first-hand, if you had clear skies!
i like the boulder pictures. they capture the excitement of the eclipse. it was cloudy and rainy in our neck of the woods so all we saw was a grey miserable day.
Lynn and I waz home alone when it hit. It was like Henny Penny yelling "da sky is fallin". But act u alee, Iz waz asleep. Lynn watched safely on
the TV and kept look in da back yard fur evie dense of darkness. She saw it!
When I woke up, Iz had sun puddle!
OMCs what a wonderful post and very educational. FSG and her sister well done. The photo of how dark it got was amazing. I seem to recall Indiana saw a large % of the eclipse. We had full sun that day (supposedly we had 78% of eclipse, about that time it became ver dark in the house even. Thank you for the post

I watched from the front porch and the boys slept through it all. The temperature dropped over 10 degrees F according to the weather report. And at my house, we were only 87% covered. Glad the Gurl got to see it.
That was fun! I missed the eclipse since I was in the hospital.
Glad you enjoyed it. We weren't even close and it was raining, but dad remembers the one here in 1979. It was raining too but it got dark as night.

I'm sorry about the rocks and the colander, but the last picture was very evocative. I recall rushing down to Montana in the late '70s (skipping school that day) to be in the centre of an eclipse then. Though we didn't quite make it, it was nonetheless impressive. Like in Trout Towne, the temperature fell and the landscape darkened; also, the wind picked up and birds fell silent. Darn impressive stuff, eh, Mackerull?

Those boulderz did a very good job of demonstrating the eclipse. We had totality in 1999 and it is something I will never forget. It was also on one of those rare days when the weather cooperated and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
That eclipse was totally awesome! It did not get completely dark here. Outside everything was a strange yellow color and meowmie kept thinking her eyeglasses needed cleaning. When she went inside it was like, whoa! It is kind of dark in here, like way too dark to read a book without turning on the lights. Here's to the next one--xoxox, Bibi & Meep≠
Ohhhh the colander trick! That's supposed to be the latest fun in da eeclipz werld. We wuz wonderin what all the squillions of blind anipals in the world were doin after looking up at the eeclipz. Maybe that's why the snake is in owr yard, he can't see where he's going anymore, from lookin up at da sun... We musta been asleep when it happened. And the beans were in Oz and nutthin happened there. :-(
These pix, umm, rocked. We got just a tad dark here, and dad said the temperature dropped a few degrees. Just a little uneventful, but we heard all about how many people traveled to places to see it, about traffic jams, full hotels, etc., and I'm like, "What the fudge?" Pssshh, humans...
The eclipse was pretty cool. It only dimmed a little here. Fun photos, though!
Oona: "Oona is a big fan of not being seen! She does not rely on darkness though. She makes use of her environment. Recently she has begun hiding under a blanket in the window to watch the birds unobserved and plot her next move."
Charlee: "Unless your next move is removing the window glass, watching the birds is the entirety of your move."
Oona: "OONA HAS GOT PLENTY OF MOVES LEFT!!!"
Java Bean: "Ayyy, the eclipse here was barely over 50%. I was outside for it and the light just got a little weird for a few minutes is all. Dada used a paper plate with a hole in it to look at the sun on another paper plate in the bottom of a box, but since the plate had no food on it I was not interested."
That sounds furry exciting, but We hope you didn't look directly at the sun!
