Love Love Love them all! I, too, have a similar collection (all early 1940s) and the art and wording is so delightful ... fun to take out from the "old keepsake box" and look back on once in awhile. Of course, I never remember seeing them at the time!!! HA!

Ohhhhh I have such fond memories of buying the box for of sheet and sheets of cards...with adorable messages.
Back in the ice age we made one for each person in our class.
Hugs and Happy Valentine's Day to you all

These are purrfect today. It takes Lynn back to the days of the dinosaurs when she exchanged paper cards with school friends. Ev-furry year even as a teen. She misses that stuff today. Me, I purrfur treats and a nap. I am napping as I have Lynn type this. She's got the thumbs you know.
Happy Happy Valentines. Precious, purrs and snores.

Java Bean: "Ayyy, our Dada says those Valentine's Day cards reminds him of the ones they handed out at school when he was little!"
Charlee: "That wasn't the 1940s, was it?"
Java Bean: "Well Dada is pretty old! It might have been the 1840s, I'm not sure."
Chaplin: "Happy Valentine's Day!"

Meowmie was doing the school cards too back in Dinosaur Days--not the 1940's but close! How sweet they are all and a pleasure to see. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Big hugs, smoochies and purrs to you and all of Trout Towne and furriends--xoxoxo, Bibi & Meep

Those are all so special. How wonderful that Grandma saved them, even if they weren't from Grandpa! Happy Valentine's Day, sweet friends! XO

Like Cecilia from My Mind's Eye, I recall making similar cards for the children in my primary grade. It didn't quite have the meaning of individuality when everyone gave everyone else cards, but it was nice to include all the kids.

I wonder if Mommy ever got one of those cards.

As bad as his memory's gotten, dad says these reminded him of his old school days somewhere back in the early 70s (he says it got a little hazy after that) when he and his classmates exchanged these. A little story- he liked a girl in his class named Adele and he lost her card. A classmate picked it up off the floor and gave it to the teacher, who read the envelope out loud as "Apple" due to dad's awful handwriting (hasn't changed). This was one of so very many embarrassing moments from his youth that has shaped who he's become today. I'll spare details. Sorry we're so late here!!

Oh gosh, mom remembers those Valentines. We had a box in our homeroom where all of us deposited our cards when we came in and then, the teacher gave them out to the kids whose names were on them. Mom used to think the verses were really for her, bless Mom's heart. Happy Valentine's Day belatedly. XX
