I'M NOT MAKIN THIS $#IT UP ~~~~~~~

whitefish waves will continue next week
as da tabbies take a break from posting
and let me, the food service girl chime in.
=^..^=

the following is a true story
and while our posts run the gambit
from stupid to insane,
I couldn’t have made
this $#it up
 if I tried

DATELINE: Thursday July 20th, 2017
4:50 pm

I’m at the copy machine at work
waiting for some crap
to come off the printer
when I happen to glance out the window
and see a burd
a large burd
a burd of prey
that should NOT
be on the ground
nor that close to the building

 I watched him for a few minutes
and his wing seemed to be funky
but I know their wings can re adjust
or whatever
{ I’m not into burd lingo
so please bear with me }

he stood there long enough
for me to go back to
my personal hell hole,
grab the cell, wait for it to turn on
and snap his photo

then he takes off heading west
but  his flight was low to the ground
and when he “landed”
it was a bumpy one

 I went down the hallway
to look out the side entrance
and he was under a tree

I thought maybe he was chillaxin
from possibly hitting the building,
but me gut, as tuna would say,
said he needed help.

the other employee left in the building
and I, were able to contact
a local rescue
who deal specifically with
wounded burds of prey

and they said they’d have someone
right out

 we went outside
to keep an eye on him
to make sure he stayed within sight
so when the rescue arrived
they could go right to “work”

we understood they’d have to
get in touch with someone,
some slight traveling would be involved,
possible traffic tie ups,
they’re on volunteer time etc etc……

fast forward your watches
a bunch

and the burd’s gettin “fussy”

 he’d already moved
and had been "corralled"
to the best of our abilities
4 times

oh ~~~~~

did I mention it was 90
the humidity was 81%
it threatened rain
and there’s NO WIND

the burd decided to move once again
                    and like a couple of loons
we are now talking to the burd
telling him help was on the way
and everything was going to be…alright…
and to stay PUT

coz we are still unsure
if:
he can fly
if his talon is funkee
or why he was sitting on
the ground in the first place

and we were
able to stand as close
as maybe 3 - 4 feet near him

he has now positioned himself
under a shrub
on a very large rock

 rescue finally arrives with sheet
 Kevlar gloves
and carriers in tow

the lady from the rescue
 approaches him
from his right
the other employee is
directly in front of him
I’m to his left

a sort of blockade if you will
and when the rescue gal
attempts to capture him………….

 HE FLIES UP AND INTO
A NEARBY DEAD TREE ….

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ARE YOU KIDDING ME...
ARE YA
FLIPPIN
KIDDIN
ME…..
and he remains perched there
and he was still perched there
when we employees left
the premises
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

after watching said burd
for close to THREE HOURS
to make sure he WAS OK,
the bass terd flies
up.... and into..... a..... tree

the end result of this story~~
 the rescue told us
to keep in touch
 he could fly; a good thing
he’s got shelter a plenty
to chillax in; a good thing
water is readily available
as a marsh is
behind the building; a good thing,
and if his leg was broken;
it would heal rather quickly
another good thing

if you’ve read this story this far
if you’ve followed this blog
for any length of time

if you’ve been keeping up
with the codd mother
the bass terd turkee saga

and MOST IMPORTANTLY
IF YOU READ
THE LAST CODD MOTHER EPISODE
you will see the irony
in TODAY’S post
as the bass terd burd was a

RED TAILED HAWK…..ENEESE……

and I'm not makin
this $#!t up !!

out the copy room window

the back of disrespect

he perched here for a good
20 minutes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
here's to a happy healthy
week o end
peace out and rock on
long live
human patience... I guess
I know I shouldn't be laughing, because you tried to help the bird. You have a good heart, even if the bird wasn't grateful. Loved what you did, even if it was unappreciated.
While the tabbies are on break, I hope they (and you) join Bleubeard as his guest at the Bleubeard County Fair:
http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/2017/07/at-bleubeard-county-fair.html
Just stop at any gate and tell them you were invited by Bleubeard.
At least the hawk's appearance broke the monotony of your day and got you out of your personal hell hole for a few hours. :-D
Pat Hatt said...
hahaha the burd wanted to see how long the foolish humans would remain around it and talk, maybe? Funny indeed that it matches so well. Hopefully it heals up though, if it wasn't just fooling with you, and away it will go.
Sandra Cox said...
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for keeping an eye on this bird and calling in the professionals for help!
Sounds like everything is going to be okay.
Whew.
Wow! I'd have done the same, called a rescue. I'm glad he appeared to be all right in the end, hope he's now okay and long gone. Wonder if he somehow became disoriented? I don't know anything about birds of prey, but how amazing to be that close to one.
hahaha....we are glad the food service girl was looking out for the wildlife though :)
Good job trying to help that BURD. But we did laugh our loud at your description. Silly Burd. You all have a super week end too.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my word. Bless your pea pickin' bass turd burd loving kind heart! Cod mother how you stood out in that heat and humidity that long is beyond me. KUDOS and Whitefish salutes to you!
That hawk was huge. MY word. If they had only arrived a few minutes earlier maybe they could have caught him on the ground. Dang. Hopefully you and your coworkers watch over him while he was on the ground gave him time to rest and possibly his was just stunned and fingers crossed he made a full recovery in the shade of the tree.
Hugs madi your bfff and Mom (pssss who by the way is a lover of bass turd burds, she has been that way all her life.
LOL LOL what a bass terd! Maybe he just wanted attention! But I'm glad the burd seems OK. Your food service girl is very kind and patient!
You should know that when you fool around with birds, you're gonna get what you deserve!
He looks like a handsome bird, even if his family are causing problems for the Cold Mother. He may have been injured but not badly enough to keep him from short flights. Hopefully he is able to heal enough to keep himself fed. I'm glad you tried to help him.
(And your attitude to your work-place sounds similar to mine...)
What a cool bird. Glad he was ok. Bet the kitties will not like you playing with a bird. lol Have a great weekend.
I had a similar experience at work with an badly injured wild goose. He couldn't fly, but he sure could run. It took four of us (animal control person, police officer and a co-worker) to catch him. When the other geese realized we were trying to catch the injured goose, they joined the fray too. In the end the goose broke away from all the birds and people and ran into a warehouse that had left it's overhead door open a few feet. Animal control was finally able to catch the bird in the warehouse.
Biggest adventure I've had at this job!
Bless your heart for being so kind to a bird of prey in need of rest. That was a long vigil for you and your coworker. Glad you were able to get help there, even though in the end, he didn't need to be rescued.
Lola The Rescued Cat said...
Oh, the poor birdie! You're so thoughtful to look after him and make sure he's OK. Even if he's a basturd burd.
pilch92 said...
That is funny and so typical of an animal. Many times I have gone to the vet with a cat only to have them act fine. Look on the bright side, it got you out of work for a while :) Have a great weekend! XO
Annie Bear said...
You really made a lot of sacrifices for that bass terd burd! The heat, the humidity, the time! That is just so nice of you even if he was rather thankless. I hope he heals quickly. You're right. You just can't make this up. Seriously, thank you for going to such extremes to help him.
Mickey's Musings said...
Gee! Some burds will do anything to get onto De Codd Mother show!!!
Even to the point of hurting themselves :/
We do hope he is OK though.
Bleubeard was simply delighted that you joined him today at the fair. It made his day and YES, he heard each of you tabbies scream his name in the big top. He was thrilled you had a good time, too. Thanks for joining him (and me) as you rest and relax after service girl tried to help the hurt, but rather stupid, burd.
H.R. Bennett said...
At least he's ok...even if he is a little asshole. I can't say I've ever dealt with something like that, but I HAVE had a red-tail land on my patio and just hang out with me while I was gardening. It was pretty cool. :)
Um...at least it wasn't a (or *the*), turkey! MOL!
Glad you tried to help that hawk, but wow, thanks for nothing huh??! OMC! MOL!
I think the birdie was receiving all of your good thoughts and attention, Tabbies and a little rest helped him to heal too. Maybe you're going to see more of your new bassturd burd furriend...just to let you know that he was in good paws...like pigeons do :D Double Pawkiss for the Weekend :) <3
Seriously??? We're going to forget we even read this, being that it's about a bird and all, but thank you for trying to help. Really, thank YOU!
Momma Kat and Her Bear Cat (Katherine Kern) said...
Never trust a bird ... especially a pretty one like that hawk! My Momma would've done the same thing (you should have seen her with the 11 goslings that were getting dangerously close to a busy road. Even though two Goose Moms were with them ... Momma felt the need to flap her "wings," talk to them, and try to get the goslings to move away from the road. She looked absolutely RIDICULOUS). ~Bear Cat
Cathy Keisha said...
Bass turd burds get you all the time. My bois would have made quick work of him if'n he stayed perched on the ground for long. Altho … when they came to capture me, I wished I could have flown to freedom.
I'm sorry but I had to laugh! It was very good of you to try and help that bass terd burd, but I hope Tuna never finds out.
Them birds. They're always such weasels like that. Good for you for trying to help it, though!
The Whiskeratti said...
Oh wow! He really put you through it, didn't he?
Ha ha haa, "the back of disrespect"! That's one of my favorite poses. Boy, what a story. That guy had you going for quite a while out there, and then to simply fly up into the tree! Great story!!
That burd sounds kinda like it had a bass turd-type attitude. So, even though it did not express any gratitude, we say THANK YOU, Food Service Girl. You rock!
LOL - well, despite the plethora of insane temperatures and circumstances, you still did the right thing!! Life is often stranger than fiction! Purrs from the Zee/Zoey gang
Good thing you have the photo of --given last weeks post--I might have thought you were making this up!! What a sight! And what a bass turd! Making you all stay late after work just so he could toy with you--but pls give an update soon--want to know if he's ok!
Any more sightings?
Holy HAWK! That is one heckofa story. First of all bravo to you for helping the (gulp) BURD as best you could - and the happy ending would be that you did NOT get rained (or burd pooped) on and apparently Mr. Hawk Aneese wasn't so badly injured he couldn't fly. All's well that ends well AND you got a little break from work! No - you couldn't make that stuff up...you don't have to...it's all around you!
Hugs, Pam (and Baby Face too)
You did the right thing and I am super duper road of you and any other employees willing to help. Burds gotta live too and that was super good of you. Me, my mom and one of her photo taking sons love hawks. He has some great photos of them in his yard. You Trout Towne Tabbies are good cats! But I knew that. XXXX
That is something but those burds will sneak ya every time. Good try though
Sandra Cox said...
You just normally don't see hawks that low, do ya?
You guys did the right thing! We have like a bazillion Eagles around here...Yes...right across the river is Delta where this winter there were HUNDREDS of the burds (http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/gallery-eagles-of-delta-put-on-spectacular-show)!!!
Loads are still flying around. And hurting themselves. What you did is the right thing. ROCK ON!!!
